Abstract
The work contains the archival materials which illustrate that when the murder of Ilia Chavchavadze took place, Dimitri Jashi was not “Okhranka” Tbilisi Department’s agent. According to the archival documents, Dimitri Jashi is initially named as a member of Socialist-Federalist Party and after that, as a member of Social-Democratic Party and performer of supporting activities for that party. In this article the archival documents are presented and analyzed about those issues. Those documents confirm that only since 1909 Dimitri Jashi became an agent of “Okhranka” Tbilisi Department to collect the necessary information from Socialist-Federalist Party.According to our research, information obtained by the agent Dimitri Jashi and conclusions made by him completely reflected the real picture of Socialist-Federalist Party’s activity. Accordingly, in that period “Okhranka” Tbilisi Department perfectly knew almost all aspects of Socialist-Federalist Party’s activities from the reports of Dimitri Jashi and other agents. Also, Dimitri Jashi’s agency activities are analyzed and substantiated. The arguments are provided that just through the information obtained by Dimitri Jashi “Okhranka” Tbilisi Department managed to disorganize the Socialist-Federalist Party which caused the hiatus in effective activity of that party. Consequently, in 1910-1911 disorganization of nationalistic SocialistFederalist Party by “Okhranka” Tbilisi Department and arresting of its active members encouraged the rise of influece of one of the wings of SocialDemocratic Party, namely, the Mensheviks.
