FEUDAL FAMILY OF AVTANDIL BARATASHVILI-ABASHISHVILI AND ACT OF DONATION (1648-1653) OF ABEL BARATASHVILI AND HIS BROTHERS TO PIRGHEBULI CHURCH OF THE VIRGIN

Abstract
The present paper deals with life and deeds of Avtandil BaratashviliAbashishvili and his family. Avtandil held the position of sufradji (protector of King’s table) (1627-1648) of Queen Jahanbanu, wife of King Simon II (1619- 1631) of Kartli. According to analysis and comparative study of the 16th and 17th cc. documents and acts of donation to Pirghebuli church, done by Abel Baratashvili and his brothers, we can clarify some unknown details about sufraji Avtandil and his feudal house.Those details are as follows: 1) Name of Avtandil Abashishvili’s grandfather was Abash. Besides, we can identify Abash Abashishvili with person who was active in 1506-1529. 2) Ancestral possession of Avtandil Abashishvili were several villages located in Kartli. Those villages were as follows: Urtsevani, Golteta, Duezi, Qtsia, etc. 3) The family burial of Avtandil Abashishvili was church of Manglisi. 4) Concerning to our research, date of death of Sufraji Avtandil Abashishvili is defined by 1648-1653. Consequently, acts of donation of Abel Abashishvili and his brothers which was conditionally dated by 17th c. (1648-1650-s), has to be dated by 1648-1653. 5) Except for Baadura, Levan, Abel, Gojasp, Kaikhosro and Iese, Avtandil Baratashvili-Abashishvili had one more son – Avtandil, his namesake.
